South Carolina ETV launched an inaugural online film festival, NextLens, March 3, highlighting eight student filmmakers and their short films.
The films represented were made by South Carolina students from various state colleges and universities, but the festival is open to high school student films as well. A team of judges from SCETV scored the submissions and selected the top-scored films to release in March on all South Carolina ETV and PBS online platforms. |

A neighborhood Irish bar is closing after almost five years on Cumberland Street in Charleston.
Bumpa's, which opened in June 2020, will serve its last customers March 17. It joins Nigel's Good Food on Ashley Phosphate Road and Spicewalla on John Street as the latest Charleston-area food establishments to close their doors. The Sullivans are “disappointed” and did not make the decision lightly, saying the closure was a financial choice, co-owner Conor Sullivan said. |
Charleston native Kindred Moore earned one of the top 15 finalist spots in the Search for Dolly, solidifying an audition for the role of Dolly Parton in her autobiographical production "Dolly: An Original Musical" set to premiere in Nashville, Tenn., July 18.
Family and friends back home encouraged her to audition for the role of Dolly after learning of the open casting call announcement on social media. She set up her camera in her bedroom and sang her favorite Dolly Parton song, “Coat of Many Colors.” |
